Diploma in Art and Design-Manchester College of Art and Design 1969. Art Teaching Diploma-Reading University 1970. Teaching in secondary schools to 'A' level and in Adult Education. Freelance Graphic Designer on many projects including work for museums and galleries, heritage sites (English Heritage and National Trust) and with education writer Elizabeth Newbery of Newbery and England. Graphic Designer for West Sussex County Council Libraries. Publicity and Promotions Manager for West Sussex County Council Libraries. Since Voluntary Redundancy in 2007, I have gone back to basics and am now painting full time. I have exhibited and sold well in the south and online, and taken part in exhibitions and competitions further afield. I won 2nd Prize in the Stride Open Exhibition in Chichester 2010, and 2nd prize and Highly Commended in the Pallant House Gallery/St Wilfrid's Hospice Annual Exhibition 2011. The latest prize was for the screen print 'And the Prayer Wheel Spun' in the Stride Open 2012. I was also shortlisted for the Ruth Borchard Self Portrait exhibition at Kings Gallery London in October 2011. I work mainly in oils but do use mixed media and collage and am inevitably drawn to my immediate surroundings, but also enjoy the unexpected beauty of the commonplace and 'everyday'. I am also inspired by portraits, heads and figures in general and am involved in a long term project painting older people in their own homes and sheltered accommodation.
