Autumn in the Park

£45.00

This painting was inspired by an image of Stourhead –  a 2,650 acre estate at the source of the River Stour near Mere, Wiltshire. The estate includes a Palladian mansion, the village of Stourton, gardens, farmland, and woodland. and has been in the ownership of the National Trust since 1946.

The gardens were designed by Henry Hoare II and laid out between 1741 and 1780 in a classical 18th-century design set around a large lake, achieved by damming a small stream. The gardens are home to a large collection of trees and shrubs from around the world and also include a number of temples inspired by scenes of the Grand Tours of Europe.

It was Autumn when this photograph was taken and Shirley particularly liked the wonderful eds and golds of the trees as they prepared for colder months.

This high quality giclee print is mounted (mount size 50.8 x 40.6cm) and will fit a standard readymade 20″ x 16″ frame.

I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my unique style of painting with acrylics so that today my work is instantly recognisable. I feel lucky that the hobbies which I enjoy in my free time contribute towards my intense enthusiasm for painting. The photographs I take whilst walking and kayaking become the reference material for my work. I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful county, surrounded by the sea with so many inland waterways - truly inspirational.
