Blue Boat, Poros

The major activity during one of my Greek holidays was a sea kayaking course. On this day I had kayaked several miles to visit the islet of Bourtzi, home of the Heideck fortress built in 1827 to protect the port of Poros. In the present day the fortress provides equally important protection for nests of Eleonora’s Falcons. Returning to Poros I stopped near the Naval Academy to photograph this view.

In the background are the red roofed houses lying amongst the olive coloured bushes, which become more sparse as you move further away from the village. In the foreground is a Greek boat – I have tried to capture the wonderful azure blue
which is so typical of many of the boats there.

This high quality giclee print is mounted and will fit a standard readymade frame.

I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my unique style of painting with acrylics so that today my work is instantly recognisable. I feel lucky that the hobbies which I enjoy in my free time contribute towards my intense enthusiasm for painting. The photographs I take whilst walking and kayaking become the reference material for my work. I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful county, surrounded by the sea with so many inland waterways - truly inspirational.
