Boats at Helford Passage

Walk along the north shore of the Helford River between Mawnan and Helford Passage and you will come upon a beach at Durgan. This beach may also be accessed through the superb subtropical gardens in the National Trust’s Glendurgan property. From here Shirley has painted 2 different views. This painting is the view looking down the river towards Toll Point.

Two rowing boats lie invitingly at the edge of the water. Where the water is shallow over the golden sand, it is a beautiful aquamarine green which turns to a deep blue as the depth of the water increases. In the distance are the undulating folds of the land with little trees dotted on the horizon.

This high quality giclee print is mounted (mount size 40.6 x 50.8cm) and will fit a standard readymade 16″ x 20″ frame.

Shirley Netherton

I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my unique style of painting with acrylics so that today my work is instantly recognisable. I feel lucky that the hobbies which I enjoy in my free time contribute towards my intense enthusiasm for painting. The photographs I take whilst walking and kayaking become the reference material for my work. I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful county, surrounded by the sea with so many inland waterways - truly inspirational.
