Brown Boat, Trelissick

Trelissick is a National Trust property close to Truro. The grounds sweep down to a small beach, but what most people do not see from the land is the little creek around the corner. It is sheltered from the wind and waves and is an oasis of quiet and peace.

Moored alone is an old rowing boat, eponymously named ‘Solus Dhu’. It looks like it has been there for some time which inspired this ‘sepia’ toned painting. The water was so still and tranquil that there was an almost perfect reflection  – just the slightest of ripples where the mooring rope entered the water.

This high quality giclee print is mounted (mount size 40.6 x 50.8cm) and will fit a standard readymade 16″ x 20″ frame.

I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my unique style of painting with acrylics so that today my work is instantly recognisable. I feel lucky that the hobbies which I enjoy in my free time contribute towards my intense enthusiasm for painting. The photographs I take whilst walking and kayaking become the reference material for my work. I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful county, surrounded by the sea with so many inland waterways - truly inspirational.
