Chapel Point

Climb the coastal path from the South Pier at Mevagissey in Cornwall and look to the south east across Mevagissey Bay. Allow your eye to move past Portmellon and you will come to a small peninsula called Chapel Point, the last point of visible land, on which sits a cluster of houses and some trees.

There is a sense of iciness in this painting with its white sun, pale sky and shimmering water, the changing quality of the light typifying the beauty that has attracted a myriad of artists to Cornwall. The rich, yet cool, green of the grass is complemented by the darkness of the rocks, the only warmth coming from the few little yellow bushes which are dotted about.

This high quality giclee print is mounted (mount size 400 x 400 mm) and will fit a standard readymade frame.

Shirley Netherton

I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my unique style of painting with acrylics so that today my work is instantly recognisable. I feel lucky that the hobbies which I enjoy in my free time contribute towards my intense enthusiasm for painting. The photographs I take whilst walking and kayaking become the reference material for my work. I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful county, surrounded by the sea with so many inland waterways - truly inspirational.
