Porthnavas Creek

Porthnavas Creek – Giclee Print

Anyone able to kayak or take to a small boat up the Helford River will enter a world of magic and mystery, with new delights around every bend. On the south side of the river is the atmospheric Frenchman’s Creek, immortalised in the book of the same name by Daphne du Maurier. On the north side is the wonderfully named Polwheveral Creek leading to the equally enchanting Polpenwith Creek. To the east of this lies Porthnavas Creek. Enter the creek at high tide, passing Pedn Billy to starboard, and a beautiful water-filled panorama opens in front of you.

The curves of the shore lead you into this painting where a single yacht is moored alone, casting a shadow on the still water. It stands out against the dark landscape of the trees which contrast with the vibrant, colourful bushes in the foreground. The distant patchwork of blue fields are dotted with little trees which, as they decrease in size, lead the eye to the white light of a distant sky.

This high quality giclee print is mounted and will fit a standard readymade frame.

I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my unique style of painting with acrylics so that today my work is instantly recognisable. I feel lucky that the hobbies which I enjoy in my free time contribute towards my intense enthusiasm for painting. The photographs I take whilst walking and kayaking become the reference material for my work. I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful county, surrounded by the sea with so many inland waterways - truly inspirational.
