Up the Percuil

Up the Percuil – Giclee Print

I nearly missed this view whilst on a circular walk deep in the Roseland Peninsula. On the eastern point on the Peninsula , reached by driving through Gerrans rather than heading for St Mawes, there are two wonderful walking routes. On this day I parked at Porth Farm and headed south to Bohortha before heading West to the eastern shore of St Mawes Harbour for the return leg. I could not see the water from the pathway due to the dense layer of bushes and trees and it was only when I looked back did I see this image which captured my imagination.

The sweep of the land in the foreground takes your eye to a house standing on a narrow peninsula of land, bathed in the afternoon sun. It is surrounded by bushes and trees which lead to the fields beyond. The Percuil River could be glimpsed wending its way in the distance upon which sat a few boats, gently bobbing on the ebbing tide.

This high quality giclee print is mounted and will fit a standard readymade frame.

I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my unique style of painting with acrylics so that today my work is instantly recognisable. I feel lucky that the hobbies which I enjoy in my free time contribute towards my intense enthusiasm for painting. The photographs I take whilst walking and kayaking become the reference material for my work. I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful county, surrounded by the sea with so many inland waterways - truly inspirational.
