In the Foothills

This painting came about from watching a cookery programme on TV! It was a series and during each introduction, this view was shown which Shirley found particularly pleasing. Some features, such as the little tiny church way in the distance and the shape of the hills are a fairly true portrayal but in many other ways Shirley has used her artistic license to create a stunning image.

There is a lovely curvaceous shoreline along which sits a small boat. You wonder if it is has been moored for any length of time or if someone is only now pulling it ashore. Its simple reflection helps to create a feeling of tranquillity and peace. The orange roofs are perhaps more typical of a Mediterranean scene although the roots of this image are actually from Scotland!

This high quality giclee print is mounted (mount size 400 x 400 mm) and will fit a standard readymade frame.

Shirley Netherton

I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my unique style of painting with acrylics so that today my work is instantly recognisable. I feel lucky that the hobbies which I enjoy in my free time contribute towards my intense enthusiasm for painting. The photographs I take whilst walking and kayaking become the reference material for my work. I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful county, surrounded by the sea with so many inland waterways - truly inspirational.
