A male lion lies with its head next to an old tree on which lions and perhaps other big cats have sharpened their claws, leaving scratch marks on the bark. It has a big mane and is staring in profile into the distance. Shot with a Nikon D810 in Serengeti National Park in Tanzania in January 2018.
