Mylor Churchtown

Head east from Penryn to Flushing and  find somewhere to park. Walk east following  the coast path past Trefusis and Penarrow Points before heading west along Mylor Creek. Pass through Mylor Churchtown before cutting back overland from Trelew to arrive back at your start point. Shirley had walked with friends on this occasion and, when they stopped at Mylor Churchtown for photo album snaps, she couldn’t resist taking a photo of a view that inspired her to create this painting.

This photograph was taken in the early evening sunshine – golden light time. In the last warmth of the day, everything is bathed in a glorious glow which is represented in this monochromic image. Although Shirley has forsaken her usual colour palette, her unique style that makes her work instantly recognisable shines through.

This high quality giclee print is mounted (mount size 50.8 x 40.6cm) and will fit a standard readymade 20″ x 16″ frame.

Shirley Netherton

I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my unique style of painting with acrylics so that today my work is instantly recognisable. I feel lucky that the hobbies which I enjoy in my free time contribute towards my intense enthusiasm for painting. The photographs I take whilst walking and kayaking become the reference material for my work. I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful county, surrounded by the sea with so many inland waterways - truly inspirational.
