Nailmakers Workshop


Belper is a mill town situated in the Derwent Valley, Derbyshire. It has World Heritage status due to the birth of the industrial revolution in the 19th Century. Another local industry dating back to 13th Century was nailmaking, a cottage industry made up of nailmakers working in small workshops next to their homes. Although this industry has long gone, the workshops can still be seen dotted around Belper.
