St Ives Island

St Ives Island – Giclee Print

Many people will recognise┬áSt Ives, although most artists paint the opposite side of the island looking towards the characteristic houses of the town from the harbour. I photographed this view when visiting the Tate Gallery one day. St. Ives has rightly become known as the centre for art in Cornwall, its tiny streets being littered with galleries of all shapes and sizes – a veritable cornucopia for the serious collector or day visitor alike.

It is the glorious pale golden sand which helps to make the light at St Ives such an artist’s haven. In this painting it contrasts with the rich blue of the sea and with the ‘red’ roofs, it is almost reminiscent of the Mediterranean.

This high quality giclee print is mounted and will fit a standard readymade frame.

I am a Cornish artist who has spent many years developing my unique style of painting with acrylics so that today my work is instantly recognisable. I feel lucky that the hobbies which I enjoy in my free time contribute towards my intense enthusiasm for painting. The photographs I take whilst walking and kayaking become the reference material for my work. I am so fortunate to live in such a beautiful county, surrounded by the sea with so many inland waterways - truly inspirational.
