Raku Ceramic Sculpture “Nuclear Jug IX”
By shaun hall
About this piece
A dramatic large sculptural form entitled “Nuclear Jug”. These originate from pots made in the late 90′s and and sold to Selfridges & Co. The forms have a totemic quality, subtly echoing Modernism, hinting at function, yet purely function-less, save for decorative purposes.
The surface textures are painterly and enhanced by the copper matte raku firing process which lend the piece a mysterious, atmospheric quality. Glazed red spot motiffs and incised lines complete the surface. An earthy, sculptural statement piece standing approximately 46cm tall.
Shaun is currently being represented in galleries across the UK , in the USA and most recently in India.
