Rhododendron Valley, Trebah
About this piece
The sister painting to Hydrangea Valley, Trebah, this view of Rhododendron Valley is from the opposite direction to the earlier painting, looking down from the house and across the Helford River and to the Roseland Peninsula.
In the foreground can be seen ferns, and the palm trees so typical of the amazing sub-tropical plants that Trebah is justly famous for. These lead to the very colourful rhododendrons which are the centrepiece of the eponymously named valley. The white-painted footbridge, which featured prominently in the earlier painting, can be seen in the distance as the eye is taken to the yacht under sail as it heads out to the open seas of Falmouth Bay.
