Rights of Woman (#IWD2017)

This digitally crafted, still life illustration features one of the earliest publications addressing feminism and gender equality, ‘A Vindication of the Rights of Woman’ by Mary Wollstonecraft. It is currently estimated that it will take over 170 years to achieve any sort of gender parity, and the inclusion in this artwork of a current affairs news article would suggest that that number will only be increasing.

Mark this years International Women’s Day and join the #BeBoldForChange campaign by celebrating the cultural achievements and contributions of women with this limited edition literary inspired artwork. We would all benefit from a gender inclusive world…and we are a long way from achieving it!

Using a technique that merges a background of traditional illustration with digital art, these 8×8”, simple to frame, limited edition (Run of 50) prints are finished on a textured fine art paper with an archival quality.
Each print is signed and numbered on the front and arrives cello-wrapped and backed with mounting board.

This artwork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by the artist.

Peter Walters

Peter Walters is an artist and award winning author/illustrator of children's books, living in North Cornwall, UK. With a background in portraiture, Peter spent his formative years in the US, West Africa and Amsterdam, painting monochromatic oil portraits for commission. A return to the UK coincided with a transition of approach and over the past two years Peter has taken up a new medium of working with digital collage. This merging of traditional illustration with digital art has seen Peter develop an illustration style now captured in print in his 2015 awarding winning children's book, The Hungriest Mouth in the Sea, with Publishers Weekly observing - 'A mix of textures add an eye-catching dimension to Walters’s vibrant collages.' This captivating style is now integral to Peter's popular series of literary inspired artworks, creating one-of-a-kind prints, rich in texture.
