Barry J Davis

Barry was born in1961 in Rainham, Essex near to east London England. As a young child he showed immense interest and talent, drawing and sketching almost everything. At twelve years of age he began dabbling in oils and after less than a year he sold his first animal painting ‘King of the jungle’. After that he began painting portraits of people and animals as commissions and was looking to attend college or art school but due to family pressure and lack of support he was forced to abandon this plan and began his first of a number of unsuccessful and uninspiring jobs over a two-year period. Eventually he returned to his passion for art and music, and began painting for local galleries by day and playing rock guitar in various bands at night. The music gradually gave way and he became a full-time artist during the early to mid 80′s, all the time expanding his knowledge and skill and producing realistic, life-like paintings. Barry has continued to do this through many happy but also turbulent and sometimes even traumatic experiences. He now feels at ease more with life in general and continues to paint in a realistic manner, subjects mainly being figurative, equine and wildlife. Barry has never held a solo exhibition mainly because his work sells before he can amass enough pieces together to exhibit, he has, however exhibited with the Society of Equestrian Artists (S.E.A) at the Mall Galleries in London and the Palace House, Newmarket. Barry now plans to hold regular exhibitions and is also offering his original artwork and prints for sale.
