Louisa Saffioti

Having been brought up in a rural part of Somerset has influenced my work strongly and often my paintings are focused on this aspect of the city, the parks, the river and open spaces.  I like the accessibility of these areas and try to re-create something of their tranquillity and beauty in my paintings.   My favourite medium is watercolour but I also use acrylics and most recently mixed media – collage and watercolour.  I like watercolour because of its subtlety for my landscapes which I often paint directly on site.  For my bird paintings I use extensive sketches and often combine pastel and watercolour because of the strength of colour and immediacy it lends to the subject. I was born in 1971.  I have lived in London for 20 years but I now live in  Wiltshire.  I exhibit my work in exhibitions and online.  As well as local exhibitions I have exhibited at the Bath and West of England show and the Chelsea Art Society open exhibition where I have sold work.  I have had solo exhibitions of my paintings at St Ann’s church, Kingston hill, the Cornerhouse, Tolworth and Court Farm Garden Centre Cafe, Tolworth as part of Kingston Arts.  I have also had some of my larger pastel paintings on display at Petriti’s Restaurant in East Molesey.  I am also willing to accept commissions.
