Mark London

‘Dad, why do your paintings ALWAYS have fish in them?’ asks my young daughter on a regular basis. Well not all of them do, but  they are a recurring theme in many of my paintings: inspired by living in Japan for a period, koi are a source of inspiration that I keep on going back to. With these paintings I have developed a decorative, stylised approach to create a strong visual appeal.
In the dim and distant past I was secretary of the Art Society at the University of Leeds and more recently have been a member of the Wallington & Carshalton Art Society. But I am largely a self-taught artist and my style and technique have developed mostly over the past 10 years through practice and experimentation at my home-based studio in Carshalton, Surrey.
On this website I am selling both original paintings (oil on canvas) and limited edition prints.  The original artworks are painted on thick-edge streched box canvases, which come  ready to hang, without the need for framing. They are quite large in size (30 x 36 inches) and would provide a colourful, standout feature on any wall.
The prints available on this site are high quality ‘Giclee’ prints, using special light-fast inks and printed on thick, 250gsm archival quality art paper. This printing technique provides exceptional-quality artworks, with a vibrancy and depth of colour that matches the original painting. The prints come ready to be framed (and the 16″ x 20″ or 11″ x 14″ pieces will fit in ready-made shop-bought frames).
Thank you for looking!
