Art Concept: For a long time, I didn’t have a ‘concept’ but in May 2015, the way I saw the world changed and I started to see things in a beautiful but much more simplistic way- which I refer to as ‘colour block’. This is reflected in works such as Safe Mooring and translates into figures such as ‘Summer Shadows’. In my acrylic paintings, instead of detail, I use blocks of ‘colour’ and/or areas of light and shade to give information to the viewer. However, my drawings of animals are inspired by the subject I’m drawing. So, oil pastel and ink line drawings and/or minimalist acrylic paintings are all used to express the perceived personality of each special creature that inspires me to draw it.
